What is a Seed Phrase?

A seed phrase is a simplified version of your private key. This phrase consists of a 12 to 24 sequence of words that are randomly generated and act as a recovery mechanism for your account.

Each time that you create a new account (represented by the public address/key), you will be given a seed phrase.

Think of this as a key to a safe or a password to your email. Your seed phrase should be kept as safely as possible since this is what protects your assets.

These phrases operate around a standardized format and are compatible with other BIP39-compliant wallets. This means that you can use the same seed phrase to recover your account in a different software wallet.

This set of words are case-sensitive and must be entered in the correct order. If you lose this phrase or enter it incorrectly, your wallet will not be recovered.
